Choosing Adobe Web Design Training Insights

By: Jason Kendall If you'd like to get involved in the web design industry, studying Adobe Dreamweaver is vital to gain in-demand qualifications that are globally recognised. Additionally, it's good practice that you gain an in-depth and thorough understanding of the full Adobe Web Creative Suite, which incorporates Flash and Action Script, in order to take advantage of Dreamweaver professionally as a web designer. This can result in you subsequently becoming an Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) or Adobe Certified Professional (ACP).

Building a website is just one aspect of the learning required by web professionals today. We would recommend that you only accept a course that incorporates subjects such as PHP, HTML, MySQL, E-Commerce and SEO (Search Engine Optimisation,) to enable you to know how to maintain content, drive traffic and operate on dynamic sites that are database driven.

One crafty way that training companies make extra profits is through up-front charges for exams and then including an 'Exam Guarantee'. This looks like a great idea for the student, until you think it through:

Everybody's aware that they're ultimately paying for it - it's obviously already been included in the gross price invoiced by the training company. Certainly, it's not a freebie - don't think these companies are so generous with their money! If it's important to you to get a first time pass, then you should avoid exam guarantees and pay when entering exams, prioritise it appropriately and apply yourself as required.

Why should you pay the college at the start of the course for exams? Hold on to your money and pay for the exam at the appropriate time, instead of paying a premium - and do it in a local testing centre - rather than possibly hours away from your area. Considerable numbers of current training companies make big margins through getting paid for all the exam fees up-front then banking on the fact that many won't be taken. The majority of organisations will require you to do mock exams and not allow you to re-take an exam until you've completely proven that you're likely to pass - making an 'exam guarantee' just about worthless.

VUE and Prometric examinations are in the region of 112 pounds in this country. Why pay exorbitant 'Exam Guarantee' fees (often hidden in the cost) - when the best course materials, the right level of support and a commitment to studying and the use of authorised exam preparation tools are actually the key to your success.

Many training providers are still using one of the most out-dated training concepts - in-centre classes. Quite often pushed as a positive point, following a chat with most students who've had to attend a couple, you'll hear a common theme of many or most of these problems:

* Many round trips - usually 100's of miles.

* Taking time off work - many schools can only give class availability from Monday to Friday and link several days together. To be honest, this doesn't suit working people, even more so when travel time is included.

* Lost annual leave - many trainees only get 4 weeks annual leave. If you give up at least half to your training events, that doesn't leave much holiday time left for the student.

* Workshop days sometimes get fully subscribed quite quickly, meaning we have to accept something that we don't really want.

* Some attendees are trying to maintain a quick pace, others want a more steady pace and be allowed to set their own speed. This breeds tension and unrest in most workshops.

* Quite a lot of students report that the (not inconsiderable) costs of getting to and from the training venue whilst paying for accommodation and food gets very high.

* Maintaining the privacy of our training is often very important to quite a lot of trainees. You don't want to throw away any lift up the ladder, salary hikes or accomplishment in your job because you're getting trained in a different area. When your boss discovers that you're undertaking certification in another area entirely, what will they think?

* Asking questions around our class-mates often makes any one of us a little uncomfortable. Surely, at some point, you've avoided asking a question as you were worried it might make you look silly?

* You should remember, days in-centre frequently become basically impossible to attend, if you work elsewhere in the country for some of the month.

It obviously makes so much more sense to be trained when it suits you -- not the training company - and make use of instructor-led videos with interactive lab's. Whenever you experience difficulties, logon to the 24x7 support facility (that we hope you'll insist on with any technical courses.) You should remember, if your PC is a notebook PC, you can study wherever you want. Lessons and modules can be repeated as often as you want - the more times you cover something - the more you'll remember. And no worrying about keeping up with note-taking either - everything's laid on for you. The bottom line: Reduced stress and hassle, less cost, and travelling is removed.
